Indonesia: do foreigners need passport for domestic flights?

Hello FlyerTalk,

I've very recently moved to Jakarta for work. My passport is currently at the immigration office while my KITAS is processed.

I will have Friday off and would like to go to Bali for a long weekend. However, I am unsure whether I will be able to board the flight over without my passport. Can I fly by showing on my German national ID card, or perhaps a copy of my passport details page?

How about checking in to a hotel? Will they need my original passport?

Many thanks,
