I have been travelling extensively on airlines other than BA lately (routes not served by BA) and I just cannot get over how generous BA's baggage allowances are and I really love BA for it.
I am currently having to lug a lot of things around with me, and 40-60 kg allowances are nowhere near enough. It's causing me to leave things with hotels because some airlines charge USD 30 / kg in excess baggage. I can hardly justify paying USD 1500 extra per flight for baggage!
Thankfully JL seem to have aligned their baggage allowances with BA. So this is a big help.
However Qantas have reverted to weight-based system since their Emirates tie-up. Boo! CX only give 40kg in F, so it's only 60 kg even after adding in the extra 20 kg for OWE. Even worse are the routes without F - I only get 50 kg. Yet, BA's is 32kg x 4 = 128 kg in F. I have to say I love it.
So, on routes served by JL and QF, you can just guess which carrier won.
I know there has been a discussion of travelling hand luggage only. Of course it has its merits and I shall indeed be exercising that myself when I pop round to NZ for a few days this week.
However, it's great to have the generous checked baggage allowances. It really is. And low excess baggage charges, even though I've never had to pay it on BA, ever.
So, thank you BA for the generous baggage allowances. Please, don't ever take that away, even if you removed champagne from Club Europe! (Yes I know, I'm a heretic and proud of it - who wants to drink Pommery anyway! My view may change if Krug or Cristal is served in CE

)
