Much of the reason why I have traveled is to try foods I can't regularly get at home/wander for hours in said activity. Though, since I've lived in a handful of different places over the past few years, the slice of pizza I can get across the street right now becomes part of my hunt in Jakarta or Shenzhen, but bika ambon and 擂辣椒茄子 switch places when I'm in NY.
I guess my point is, everywhere is exotic.
