In theory this sounds good, but I think it would be very airport/gate dependent. Many of the boarding areas that I've seen have tight spaces between seats and not a lot of room around the BP scanner. I could see how the orderly line of Zone 1 passengers in the general boarding line would block access for First and SkyPriority passengers to make their way to the carpet.
