I have TripIt pro, and I've noticed that a delay reported via TripIt is often longer than the one reported by AA. And, TripIt will often report the delay well before it appears in aa.com / airport monitors.
The funny thing is that the longer delay initially reported by TripIt is usually more accurate than the one reported by AA. Does anyone know if there is another delay database out there that TripIt is using, which happens to be more accurate?
I've seen the same thing with TripIt pro, and I agree their delay reports often turn out to be more accurate.
My experience with AA is that they often don't post creeping delays in a very timely manner. For example, if you pull up the incoming aircraft you will see it arriving 25 minutes before scheduled departure of your flight. You know that there is no way they will meet that, but they don't post the new time until boarding is already late. They might adjust the departure time again while in the middle of boarding. TripIt and its providers may be producing estimated departure times based on incoming aircraft and other factors.
