Etihad are currently offering status matches - as you'll be based in Dubai I'd imagine that could be very useful. I flew with them last year and the drive from Dubai to AUH really isn't that bad. I was op-uped to J even with only basic status with EY and their business class product is very impressive.
A nice idea. I'll get over to the EY forum to check up on status matching. I have just booked return business reward flight out of AUH with AB to TXL. Snuck into a lower miles zone so was a pretty good deal and saved a packet through not coming back via LHR.
I've done the drive a few times and it's easier than the M25 to LHR!
