On Valentine's day this year Miss PtF was whisked off to Paris on Eurostar by her boyfriend (who had called me here in CAI the night before seeking my permission to propose to her).
She didn't know in advance where she was going (just had to make sure she had her passport with her) or that the trip had an ulterior motive to it. Happily the whole venture went according to plan.
Why not just propose in Paris, with a romantic meal in a top notch restaurant and a bottle of champagne?
