In seven years of regular business travel, I have used room service twice. Once when I fell ill and could barely face picking up the phone, let alone staggering down to the hotel restaurant, and once when I got back to the hotel incredibly late and the main restaurant wasn't open. Both times the food was "good enough", but that's all.
When I'm not on the road, I work from home and eat at my desk most of the time so I enjoy the eating out/sitting at a proper table aspect of being on the road. Even dining alone is a nice "experience" for me. The last thing I want is to eat in my hotel room, even if the food is good.
