Reprinting BP at bag check station vs. full-service station; surprising difference
I arrived at MIA today about 47 min before my original departure for a domestic flight. Because the mobile BP often doesn't work for PreCheck, I stopped at the nearest kiosk to do a reprint. This was at the bag check-only station, right as you get off the tram from the rental car garage. I got the "sorry we can't do this, please take this ticket to an agent" printout instead of a BP.
Went to agent and was told my flight was closed and in final (it wasn't, in fact I'm in the MIA AC because we're delayed) and she wasn't supposed to do this. I told her I was checked in and just needed a reprint. Best she could give me was priority verification card (fortunately, still good for LLL).
This has never happened to me before (including my outbound flight last week, when I did the reprint about 35min before departure). The only explanation I can think of is that the kiosks and agent computers there are programmed differently and aren't able to do a simple reprint for those already checked in. Anyone ever run in to this before? I thought all of those kiosks were the same, but apparently not...
