Agree 100% with the OP. Chatty captains need to keep it quiet on early morning flights. Have some respect for your passengers. Hard to believe, Captain Narcissus, but not everyone falls madly in love when we hear your voice blaring at us over the low-quality speaker system at 6:10am on a Monday morning.
For those of you who want to know where we are in flight, look it up online. You'll see exactly where we are without disturbing the 199 people around you who absolutely do not care.
Based on the comments in this thread there are 99% on the flight who want the commentary. That leaves you and a couple others who dont want it. Earplugs was a good suggestion. Also I disagree about noise cancelling headphones. They can definitely muffle the sound of announcements.
