don't really have an amount in mind.

I don't overly 'need' the miles or tier points - was just thinking of having some fun given I have no rush to get from SFO to LA so don't mind if I connect, it takes a bit longer.

I'd probably be less tempted to go back and forth runs between SF and LA but would be happy spending a bit more for a 'convoluted' journey and/or F. not looking to spend $1,000 or so but say, if forced to name an amount, $500 if it involves a bit of fun (SFO - HNL - LAX would definitely fall into the 'fun' category ).
