Liquid Bags for Getting through Security

[You know where I am going with this one based on my last thread]

So I've checked the restrictions on liquids going through security and they are this (according to the BA website):

  • They must be held in individual containers not exceeding 100ml
  • The containers must be carried in a separate, clear-plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag
  • The bag must not exceed 20cm x 20cm (8ins x 8ins) in dimensions
  • The bag must not exceed one litre capacity
  • The bag must be completely closed
  • The items must fit comfortably in the bag
  • The bag must be x-ray screened separately from other hand baggage at airport security points

I was wondering about how deep this bag can be. I've seen a zipped bag on eBay which is 17cm x 20cm x 6.5cm which sounds ideal, but the only bags I've ever taken through security in the past were freezer flat bags.

The key constraint is the one litre max and from checking on the InterWeb, I see that 1 litre = 1000 cubic centimeters, so the bag I found on eBay = 2,200 cubic centimeters, so (technically) that's against the rules.

Anyone have any experience of using liquid bags which are deep enough to hold normal containers etc? Any problems encountered?
