the CM card benefits, unike the old Gold Marriott program, has NOT offered 50% off rates in nearly 2-years...........if you had read this thread you would have been aware of these channges making the new (and now its Phase 2 even worse then Phase 1 and certainly worse theh Marriott gold) where rates offered online are at most time better then rates using the new Phase 2 program.........
making the program even worse is the fact that w Marriott gold you could make resees online, but w CM you must contact the property directly to find out that most of the time they will not honor the certs...........

She spoke about 90 MPH going on about how great this year's benefits/coupons are etc etc. I told her to go ahead and renew my membership and I would pick up the package at the hotel on my arrival.
In the meantime I booked my next stay (directly with hotel as usual) and asked if any Club Marriott rates were available for the period. They offered me 50% discount rate (inclu breakfast for 2 downstairs). I accepted the rate (now this 50% Club Marriott rate is Baht 5780 while prepaid is 4790 ... but that's another issue ).
Upon arrival at the hotel I picked up the Club Marriott package and went to 16th floor for check-in. Lo and behold there are no 50% discount vouchers with this years MR package, despite being booked at this (old?) rate. Staff said they would straighten it out.
The next morning I went downstairs for Breakfast and was told I should have breakfast in the 16th floor lounge (I'm MR Platinum) because my room provided breakfast in Exec lounge and didn't qualify for the ABF benefit. Restaurant manager that morning offered to "do me a special favor" and let me have breakfast downstairs for "this one time". I declined his special personal favor offer and went upstairs to the lounge.
Now another day later ... no advice from anyone. But I'm reconciled to breakfast in exec lounge, which is good and can't complain. But I try to stick to low-carb diet which isn't easy in exec lounge. So the ABF downstairs is a worthwhile benefit for me.
I'm waiting to see what the final outcome to this and what rate I'm charged when I check-out.
But readers be warned .... no 50% vouchers are provided for Marriott Club members this year. Last year these were provided and were also usable at Marriott hotels in the region. Last year for several periods of time, JM Bkk also gave 50% rate to Marriott Club members on basis of membership alone, i.e. not requiring vouchers.
For those of you who are JW Bkk frequent guests, there are two vouchers for "special" room rates of 4499++ Baht (each for 3 days max only) ... while the prepaid room rate of 4799 is available online. There are also two 2599++ vouchers "for participating Marriott Hotels in Thailand" but my experience with these lower room price vouchers is that it's difficult to use them because there are limited periods when this hotel (JW) will accept them. Of course if you use all the restaurant vouchers it may be worth 7500 Baht.
This also my last year with Club Marriott .... maybe also be changing to Sheraton Grande or Intercon as my Bkk hotel abode.
