'Out of an abundance of caution, I don't discuss my travel plans with strangers-it's just not safe'.
I've never been SPOTed or smelled any BDO, but my response to any and all questions from a TSO will be simple, direct, non-snarky, and to the point:

"I'm not at liberty to discuss it."

Which is absolutely true, as far as it goes; I work for a company that has federal contracts, and in my yearly security training I've been advised to never discuss any PII, travel plans, or other personal details with strangers - not even co-workers or people in uniform - to prevent phishing, spear-phishing, whaling, or Mentalism.

My inbuilt politeness and manners will probably make me reflexively say, "I'm sorry" first, even though I'm not really sorry, I'm peeved.

Fortunately, I've never had to use it. I know it will cause problems if I do, because some TSO will get huffy and call a supervisor or a LEO and they'll get outraged that I'm not respecting their authoritah, so I may wind up with a full monty search and hassle.
