Assuming this is not a red eye, I prefer to hear route announcements from the pilots. I always find it interesting to know the major cities I am seeing out the window. Also remember there are usually people who fly infrequently on most flights who enjoy the narrative. About the only thing I dislike is pilot announcements that you just can't hear because the volume is too low.
