Day 10 - Ho Chi Minh City & Mekong Delta - part 2

We cruised down the river for a bit and stopped off at a brick-making factory. They use the rice husks to fire the kiln of 80000 bricks to 80 C for up to 3 weeks before cooling them for a week.

Back on the boat we were given a fresh coconut to drink the juice from.

We then veered off the main river and into a canal and stopped at a coconut candy making concern. The guide showed us how to remove the husk from a coconut and split the shell and then finally extract the coconut meat. This was then boiled with some malt and other flavourings to make the candy.

After this we hopped on the local version of a tuk-tuk that consisted of a motorcycle with a tray truck attached to the rear that had small bench seats on it. We then proceeded to make our way down small country roads, ducking low lying branches before arriving within a five-minute walk to the place where we were to have lunch.
