I worked for RM. I did not always get along with him and I hated his personal relationships with employees. He does not always know when to let go and let his deputies do their job. He can be very obtuse when trying to give direction to subordinates. He tends to bull ahead rather than see the limits of the Union/Government restrictions that are unique to Air Canada. This is all detrimental to Air Canada succeeding.

On the other hand..... I don't think that there is anyone better who is available to do the job.

It is time that the employees woke up to the fact that this company will disappear in the next year if they don't smarten up. RM's way of dealing with this or any airline crisis is to "grow" the airline back to prosperity and not shrink it by cutbacks and cancellations. The unions were offered a chance to participate in this back at the beginning of February and they ALL dragged their heels and waited for someone else to take the hurt so that they did not. RM was asking for work rule changes and cutting the union scope clauses that hurt this company so badly. He wanted them to come out and get rid of the "not my job" attitude and they failed to pick up on that. He did not ask for wage roll backs or employee lay-offs. The unions, the media and many others missed the boat and now there will be a smaller, less highly paid, more maleable work force. OR there will be no company.

Right now my money is on the employees dragging their feet again. Right now I see this company in Liquidation down the road.
