It could be but the connection they made was that the route is loosing money so they need to put on the cheaper crew to keep it sustainable. Don't get me wrong, I will be devastated if they cancel the Sydney leg. I am starting to use it more regularly than ever before.
The last time I flew this route one of the crew said something similar to me. He said if the route didn't become more profitable after the introduction of MF than it would most likely be axed.
