Agree. No cash rate whatsoever is a barometer of savings unless one would have paid that rate.

I, too, have stayed at Paris CE on points. But I would never paid their cash rate - I would have stayed someplace cheaper - so I didn't really save more than what that cheaper place would have cost me.
