Funny thing is (well maybe not that funny ) is that this is the third Tumi suiter I've owned. The last one I had for 5 years (built circa 2003) was bad luck also. The accessory strap clip kept snapping in half. With a light load like a Safecase with not much weight. All it took was a call to replace it and they would send two, free of charge. The newer ones are improved.

Ditto re: no repair hassles for that circa 2003 suiter: they immediately replaced for free - corner guards when they failed, even wheel assemblies when I told them in 2007 it was my fault dragging the thing on Chicago sidewalks, loaded up with salt in the winter. The right thing for me to do was preventative maintenance on the wheels, but Tumi never gave me that bromide ( I do that maintenance now). They just sent the parts (no charge) or offered free repairs. As a result of that, I kept buying Tumi. Their products are well designed, but guards and skid plates should not fracture from 99% carry-on use.

I am not saying I'll never buy another Tumi but it was nice a few years ago when they did a better job in CRM. It would be even better now if they just started using more durable materials on the outside of their bags. I am going to repair the Tumi but it is #3 in the carry-on lineup behind a wheeled Filson and a Rimowa Salsa Dlx trolley.
