Maybe the reason you're arriving at that conclusion is because you think the volume of "TODs" is high. Based on the volume of posts by the eagle-eyed UA FT observers who are on the lookout for them on a constant basis I would say the volume is minuscule. In the vast majority of cases the buy-up prices are ridiculously high.
There's nothing "equally compelling" about your conclusion that I can see from the data I've looked very closely at here and elsewhere.
Are you joining the tiny minority here by saying that CPUs *will* process at the upgrade windows if there is R inventory and everything is processed correctly? That's just not how it works.

And they will keep manipulating the buy up price until someone bites. And if one bites I'm sure they feel more will, especially as they keep manipulating the price until the plane leaves or no more bites, then they give them away as CPU.
Broadly agree with this, except they *do* also release vast amounts of CPU inventory at the upgrade windows. There's just no discernible pattern as an outsider (e.g. looking at R inventory).
