Delta breaks rules to make people feel special all the time. It just doesn't get mentioned often, and it isn't every Delta employee that will do it.
Just this weekend I was having trouble getting an e-Cert entered into a reservation. So I called in, and the agent voluntarily applied 2 e-Certs (which is clearly against policy) without me even asking. It was appreciated!
And the same agent then linked a friend's ticket to mine (she has no status), and voluntarily moved her into EC with me for no charge.
Some people at Delta go above and beyond
