I have a reward booking to BCN from LCY on an Avios redemption in CE. I definately could see seat availability when I last checked on the weekend. Today it says "seat choices are available at Check-In" for both legs.

Can't imagine they'd lose a revenue stream if people wanted to pre-pay and select their seats - unless less most were like me and just keep looking and don't buy!!
