Not to pile on the OP, but I gotta agree with Often1 here. Having said that, we've all had days when things just don't seem to make sense to us (or in the case of calculus, an entire semester of those days). I suspect that if the OP sets this aside for a day or two (if possible) and then comes back to the table, there will be an "ah hah" moment.
