I removed my FF# from a booking a few weeks back to try and resolve a problem with a later segment. On doing so I immediately got ejected from the exit row on the return flight. Worth checking your seat reservations if you go down this route.
You have to replace a FFP that has OW elilte status in order for you to keep your seat. I called BA in HKG, and asked they remove the BA number to replace it with my AA Plat (OW Sapphire). We shall see if the flight credits to BA or AA then.
