Having recently booked a BA codeshare operated by AA, I was given the option of being transferred directly to my booking on aa.com, with access to the normal functionality (including seat selection) there.

It could be a trial thing with a limited rollout (this was LHR-LAX on AA's new 77W), but I found it a very useful feature.
