How anniversary is determined? Is it just happen on the exact date of anniversary or +/- a specified timeframe (say 1 week) of the exact anniversary date?

Also, is the upgrade applicable to one sector only or the whole roundtrip itineraries or even multiple itineraries within the timeframe window?
