Butler Service at St. Regis

I am just curious to know what people in this forum think about the legendary, or so advertised, St. Regis butler service.

In my experience (9/10 properties visited in the last 5 years, some of them frequently) it has been varying from completely not existing to barely perceptible.
Most of the time I call butler service, if attended, I experience longer waits. Same call to the direct department (room service, housekeeping, etc...) goes faster and more efficient.

The worst experience ever was in Mexico DF...late check in. A few trouble erased and I had to call butler a few times in an hour (it was around midnight). It took always a life for him to come and on the last call he came without the jacket, shirtsleeves pulled up to the elbow, sweaty. He apologiesed and admitted, not enquired about, he was the only butler in service for over hundreds room. He just coudn't do any better.

Are your experiences on the same line or do you think it is so valuable as they promote it?
