We modified our child's schedule to coincide with the flight time. In other words feeding was just prior to departure, which meant nap time for majority of our DEN-OGG trip when our son was 12 months old. We traveled via E+ on the Hawaii configured 763's. nothing beat the first two rows of E+ for that trip.
On a side note, if you face the car seat on your roller-board bag with the child safety straps facing the handle, you can strap the seat to the bag and have a mildly simplistic trip through the airport.
For easy airport carrying for 2 trips we took with our 12 (and later 18) month old going IAD-CPH-OSL, OSL-FRA-IAD, and BWI-KEF-OSL, we bought one of these, which straps to the back of a car seat and dispenses with the need to wheel a stroller through airports. Great product until UA annhiliated it when we made the mistake of checking it strapped to a carseat.....but UA did give me a $150 voucher, more than the price of the accessory!
