I think there is cause for concern when you don't know where the crime ridden areas of town are. It was a fun trip though and we definitely enjoyed a great deal of Italy and Switzerland. We saw many things in Italy and Switzerland (only missing Venice, the Dolomites, Lake Como area, and Basel/Geneva in Switzerland). Only really saw the greater Dublin area, but Dublin was still enjoyable.
The music/restaurant scene in Dublin was especially great. I enjoyed hearing Galway Girl played at the pubs.
