AC keeps pretending that the fuel surcharge is to cover the additional cost due to recent increases in fuel prices. But clearly, no matter which example you use, they are collecting a great deal more than the actual increase in costs.
But I don't care. If they start advertising all inclusive costs, as they said they would, then let the fare be 1$ and the fuel surcharge be $1800. As long as I see $1801 in the advertisement it doesn't matter how they break it down, or what they call each portion.
