Qantas have recently introduced Ipads to some of their domestic 767-300 fleet, so on a trip this weekend to Adelaide I thought I would write a report.
Qantas
Route: Sydney to Adelaide
Aircraft: Boeing 767-300
Check in: Checked in online 24 hours before departure and as a Qantas Frequent flyer already had my seat assigned. The process is quick and easy. Upon my arrival at the airport I was easily able to print my baggage tag and use the automatic baggage machine to quickly and smoothly send my bag onto my flight.
Class: Economy, seat 32A
Flight time: 2 hours, 10 minutes. I leave on time and arrive about 5 minutes earlier.
Seat pitch and width: 31 inch pitch and width of about 17.
Luggage allowance: One checked bag up to 23 kilograms, one carry-on bag up to 7 kilograms.
Comfort: Qantas does still operate a similar version to Honolulu, and in truth it is not something I would want to experience for a flight longer than 2 hours.
Comfortable enough for a short haul domestic flight, but even me as an average height man would struggle to enjoy the level of comfort for anything longer.
Service: Cabin crew and friendly and attentive, and meals/drinks are served shortly after the flight reached cruising altitude.
Entertainment: On this retrofitted 767, Qantas had installed its new wireless Q Streaming with Ipads in the seat pocket on each seat.
A good choice of movies, comedies, music and otherwise was available, but for such a short flight I opted for a few back to back episodes of Modern Family.
A good concept, even for a short haul flight as this one, but keep in mind you can only watch once the seat belt sign is off, and it is turned off once descent commences.
Food and drink: Here is where I get a little fussy. Qantas markets itself to as an airline that includes meals, drinks and entertainment in its tickets, yet on a 2.25pm flight I could have been forgiven to have wanted more than a small slice and a coke.
Lucky I had eaten in the lounge prior to my flight though.
