I do not have taxi charts handy, but give me a day or so to get them.
Extra fuel that is boarded for alternates, or holds is not a cost (except the extra fuel burned to carry more fuel) if it's not burned. If it is used, then AC had it in there control not to go for poor wx, or in the case of a hold, it's just part of the business.
I'm suprised BA doesn't charge a BAA fuel surcharge as there is ALWAYS a hold @ LHR.
The point is, in very broad stokes I admit, is that AC is ripping off the public. If they need to get more rev, then raise the fare. Don't lie and collect more $$ based on a false fuel charge.
Interestingly, they have now cancelled the charge for Asia and Aus. They could have lowered fares to attract more business, but they chose to remove this subtle fare increase instead.
