But the point of MCE isn't to fill it with non paying elites. It's to extract more revenue from their customers. I assume most of those non elites payed the $24+ to sit in an MCE seat. If AA lets Golds sit there for free, they'll be forgoing revenue.
I doubt it, I think that most people seated there are last time checking passengers and passengers that re-checked at the airport to get those seats for free.
