The officers and other senior soldiers in our organization actually donated a considerable amount to make this event happen. We each donated about $600. Now, for me to throw in another $700 is a lot of money for me personally, as I don't feel I can go back and ask them to contribute more money. I have agreed to pay it, however, and will see if they are willing to throw a few extra star points my way. What would be a reasonable amount to ask for?
Both parties, it appears acted in good faith that the amount on the contract represented the final bill.
Until you mentioned this, I had agreed with most of the posts here, that you should on balance be on the hook for the $700.
Does the hotel know about this circumstances (that:
- the bill is being split by individuals, and
- that the individuals are soldiers)?
Also, is there any prospect that you will organize future events at the hotel?
