I fully agree with Smisek that this is a game-changer and truly an aircraft that people will go out of the way to fly. Also, quietest airplane I've ever been on- and Ive been on the upper deck on an A380!
I don't think that business class seating will be the issue with the 787. I think the problem will be if you get stuck in coach. The 787 is about 16 to 18 inches more narrow for the interior cabin than the 777. So both the 777 and 787 have 9 across in coach. That can't be too comfortable or too healthy. But then American's new 777-300s have 10 across in coach. It's a race to the bottom. I am certainly not going out of my way to fly either of these planes in coach, although business or first will be fine for me.

If I can get a row to myself, or domestic first, I may fly it next month. My life insurance is paid up in case the batteries fire up. My heirs will be crying all the way to the bank. If it looks like that I will be stuck in coach in a full row, I am not putting a foot on that sucker.

If the flight was like 8 to 14 hours long, I would be leaving the arrival airport in an ambulance and not a taxi. Coach got to be a killer. Cramliner!
