I purchased a NYC fare, so any of the 3 area airports would have worked. This happened at 2pm in the afternoon and they told me that no 1st class seats are available on at least 3 flights. I think there may have been a 1st class seat on an evening flight but that would have meant missing my connection in MIA, so it wasn't an option. So, obviously AA is not doing that lately. In fact, on all my 1st class itineraries, out of curiousity, I have clicked on Same Day Flight Change and always get that there are no options available. So, not sure what you're saying is true. And the reason for this is because their EXP elites are getting free upgrades days in advance. Why would I purchase a 1st class ticket if I have no flexibility with it and the airline cares more about accommodating those "poor" business travelers who are "forced" to pay for economy fares but want to fly business/1st?
Huh? You're talking about a voluntary change. While I agree with the tenor of your post that, as a paid F pax, you are more important than every Coach pax, I'm not sure I agree that you should have been accommodated from LGA.
