Checked in. Maria at FD greeted us like long lost friends. Free internet and free breakfast. As BKKLEE pointed out, resort is only in the name. Property doesn't appear to be designated as a "resort" by Marriott. Here on a 7 night travel package before continuing to Rome. Property is gorgeous, staff exceptional, so far. Booked a "classic" and upgraded to "executive" room. Incredible view, nice balcony and the bartender is excellent...

Rented a Fiat 500 from Hertz in Florence. Hertz office is about a 7 or 8 minute walk from Firenze SMN train station. With MR discount that came as part of the travel package car is $250 Euros for 7 days. Returning car in Lucca and taking train to Rome. Good thing, too. Getting out of Florence wasn't TOO hard, but would hate to try to find that office in a car.
