LGA is the most convenient airport to get to and from for a large number of New Yorkers, so it is an attractive option for a lot of fliers (I pay~$35 for a 25 minute cab ride to LGA while I pay $50-$60 for a cab ride to JFK that could be anywehre from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours while I pay $70+ for a cab ride to Newarl). I am very happy Delta beefed up their presence here. That said, it is the airport most easily impacted by weather (though other NYC airports have issues as well).

Also, as the poster above said, LGA is mostly an O&D airport, not a "hub" in a traditional sense (unless you are going to smaller Northeastern markets)
