Unless the RC is closing for major renovations, I am surprised the hotel is not honoring the reservation and Marriott footing the bill. Just yesterday someone posted on FT about the Marriott Charlotte Executive Park changing flags to a Crowne Plaza. (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...tive-park.html) The email that poster received indicated that award reservations would still be honored but paper certificates would be required. My understanding is that Marriott then pays the agreed upon rate for the award reservation when the paper certs are provided to MI. Maybe Marriott couldn't come to an agreement with the new owners, but I think Marriott could be doing a little more for the OP. Definitely feel for the OP with regards to the last minute notice on this and the financial impact on their vacation plans.

I would definitely call Mr. Marriott's office and discuss other alternative solutions. Let us know how you make out.
