I bought a very good Garmin Nuvi refurbished on Amazon for about 1/2 of the normal price. These aren't always available, but it is worth checking. I was wary of the refurbished thing, but I have done it a couple times and been happy

It is pretty good, though I think you have to pay for european maps. Doesn't have voice commands or bluetooth, but I don't mind that.
