If you have a smartphone or tablet, I've found Google Maps works perfectly well. You can get a smartphone SIM @ Vodafone IT for around 8-12 Eur which will give you 1GB data, 250 or so texts & minutes. I've gotten 5GB for a tablet for 15-20 Eur.
