Question DELTA wanted more TAX on Reissued Mileage Ticket

I had a confirmed booking from MNL to LAX round trip. Today I tried to change my return date, when I called Elite Line – sure there was a seat available in same class, the agent confirmed my total mileage will not change, I proceeded with the change and the agent tells me that you to pay the additional $38.20 in TAX totaling $76.40

I was puzzled, why am I asked to pay additional tax, if I am not changing the routing? The agent did not have any explanation for this- she only said- I DON’T KNOW WHY- This is what my computer says.

While this conversation was taking place – I opened my 2nd browser and without logging into my account, searched for AWARD ticket for the same dates and same route. To my surprise, the Low mileage award seats was available at $38.40

Later agent transferred me to RETICKETING DESK, they gave me the same line. When I told them that, on my screen I can see lower tax if I were to buy a new ticket.

Reticketing agent put me on hold came back moments later and said, I have to manually reissue the ticket. 5 minutes later ticket was reissued with original tax amount.
