Very nice comparison. I used to think that the hard product in the air was 99% of the enjoyment on a trip but more I give significantly more value to the service now (as I get older). One of the reasons that I say this is that on my flights on CX in J, I really enjoyed the seats new cirrus ones) much more than CW , even on the UD. I have sat in rows 11 and 12 on CX's 777 which are in a small and quiet cabin although not as exclusive feeling as the UD on a 747. If I compare flying alone on CX to CW, CX wins for me. I don't care for the rear facing seat and the face-to-face arrangement in CW even with the divider up. The single window seat on CX is nicer to me.
However, I have always had excellent crew on BA (only flown YVR-LHR though) and CX crew have been perfunctory. An interesting contrast was YVR-HKG-YVR last year in F; outbound crew were HKG based and genuinely friendly whereas the inbound crew was YVR based and although polite, their "attitude" was extremely apparent. Well see how BA F compares this summer.
