IHG really does encourage people to use their corporate code for leisure travel, and I suspect no-one they enter into a corporate contract with (worth many, many 1000's of nights to them) would stand for a charging structure that introduced multiple people charges.
Even when there are no extra charges, I've very often found that my corporate rate - particularly if it's individually negotiated as opposed to the generic discount - is the cheapest rate.
I agree with you that a corporate rate is often cheaper than the Advance Saver rate.
In my comparisons above however I am comparing the Advance Saver rate with the Best Flexible rate, which is the rate everyone can book without restrictions. To me, if that rate is lower than the Advance Saver rate, it makes no sense to book an Advance Saver. Besides, the name of the rate would be wrong because you don't save any money, you pay extra....
