However, I wouldn't do it. I've worn shorts on domestic US flights, especially when I lived in Phoenix in the summer. However, when I fly international, transcon and anything in a premium cabin I'm going to look sharp (or "smart" as I believe people from the UK say). When I flew CX First last year I wore slacks, a button down, tie and jacket and dress shoes. I consider myself an Ambassador of the US and I want to come across looking the part. I'll be flying JFK-SFO in First with my Father next week and both of us will be wearing a jacket and in my case, probably a tie too.

Maybe I'm strange but I like dressing up, I feel better when I do.
That's not strange at all - the whole point of choosing clothes is (in my book) to make you feel better, otherwise why not just wear the same thing all day every day!

I only think it's strange when people hold other people up to such high standards. If I was the son whose dad above told them to go back an iron their shirt before they saw them then I'd be quick to leave, but I certainly wouldn't be coming back!
