Immigration checks people - customs checks things.
Immigration is when you get your passport stamped, visa checked, etc.
Customs is when your luggage get checked, you declare your imports, etc.
In some countries, the 2 are combined. Most places, they are separate.
In Toronto, you see an immigration officer first. The customs officer is the one who
collects your card as you pass by.
There is no priority line at immigration in YYZ other than Nexus/GE.
There is a priority lane after US Immigration for security.
Actually in Canada, customs are also the people that checks your passport when you first enter - that is why they are called Canadian Border Services Agency, not Canadian Customs and in black uniform.
Immigration is when they refer you to a side office.......... Those officers are in white uniforms with a different badge....
