I have to say this place hasn't changed much after a recent visit.

The rooms are still as dodgy as they were before (old and worn down). The hallways smell of pestiside to the point where you need to take a spare cloth with you to avoid inhaling the stuff (it really is a terrible smell).

In the evenings you have random girls waiting for company in the lobby.

As I left one of the bell boys was very helpful and ran to help me with my bags (kind of weird for a property where everything else was so far off). On the way outside, I ask for a cab to the airport. Right in front of the door there was a Dubai taxi waiting, but the bell boy insisted I get into a very expensive limo. It took me repeating "I want the normal taxi" 5 times before he opened the door to the cab and put my bag in the trunk. So much for unbiased service...

The lounge appetizers consisted of mini pizzas and tempura filled with seafood. The wine is still the same stuff you wouldn't even use as vinegar at home.

Overall, this place is of course cheap and has a nice rooftop pool for spotting, but the rest is really of a random American Four Points quality (excepting maybe the lounge and working ladies of the night).
