I'm flying with Qatar from Singapore to Doha and then Doha to Paris, carrying a wedding dress. Would Qatar allow this as my hand baggage item? I think it's larger than the usual dimensions. My bridal shop thinks that the airplane has a suit compartment where I can hang it.

I am not keen on checking it in, firstly because I'm moving so I have LOTS of luggage as it is, and secondly because I don't want to take the risk of it getting lost or delayed. Or damaged.
