Monday – Friday, when many guests are out of the hotel rooms. On Saturday, work is limited to painting and refinishing of timber – that is no noise at all. Exhaust fans are used to suck any fumes through the open windows; elevator shafts are sealed to prevent fumes from entering the hotel and contractors’ access is through the back of the house only. In this way, we contain the potential inconvenience to our guests. A letter is in place in the rooms advising guests of the work being undertaken. I hope that this clarifies the situation.

Dear Mr. Chapman,
Many thanks for your reply and detailed information. I met you briefly last evening in The Living Room as you were greeting guests and ensuring that all was well with their stays. It was impressive that the GM of a hotel was making such overtures, although perhaps shouldn't be surprising given the high-quality service of your employees. I never found such a letter in my room but that's fine. The noise is minor and indeed is only during weekdays.
You offered a renovated room upon my next stay and I shall take you up on that offer if one is available on my next visit. The current rooms are essentially flawless so I'm eager to see how things might possibly be to an even higher standard.
